Join the Jury

To be eligible to join the TTCA jury, you:

• must have been publishing about theatre in Toronto for at least three years, with a minimum of 20 public-facing pieces per year. These can take various forms: written reviews, feature articles, analysis/thought pieces, long-form essays, social media posts (including videos), podcasts or perhaps others to be considered on a case-by-case basis. They may appear on a third-party platform or be self-published.
• must see a broad range of Toronto theatre productions to allow for voting in most, if not all, TTCA categories.
• must complete the required application and submit the requested samples.

The Membershup committee reviews applications against these criteria:

• shows evidence of thoughtful, critical engagement with the work of theatre being discussed, including how the source material, the contributions of the performers and creative team and the conditions of production (venue, audience response, design, etc.) contributed to the overall production and viewing experience.
• demonstrates critical self-awareness, including an understanding of how personal perspective, experience and limits of expertise may shape interpretation and judgment.
• clarifies the rationale and grounds for any evaluations made about quality or value.
• shows evidence of thoughtfulness, care, and attention to craft in composition and presentation.
